Copenhagen,
April 6, 2004. - TDC,
the leading Danish telco, is about to introduce a
nationwide concept for WLAN hotspots. Through agreements
with Statoil, McDonald's and Baresso Coffee, TDC will,
in one move, establish up to 400 hotspots. For this
ambitious rollout, the company has chosen Chronos
Technology, an experienced systems integrator, and
Gemtek Systems, a leading supplier of carrier-grade
public access WLAN solutions.
McDonald's restaurants, Statoil service stations and
Baresso espesso and coffee shops all over Denmark
will get extremely fast wireless internet connections.
Internet users will be able to get wireless access
when they are near a TDC hotspot as early as April
2004. Customers will not have to search extensively
for a place with wireless coverage, but can obtain
internet access at places they already know. Access
to TDC hotspots can be bought at a fixed monthly price,
and customers will also have the opportunity to buy
temporary access to the internet.
Key components, like the access gateways
and hotspot-in-abox solutions are delivered by Gemtek
Systems, the world's only vendor that is 100% dedicated
to Wi-Fi public access solutions. With its products
the company is giving its customers, like telcos and
mobile operators, competitive advantage through the
lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) and the highest
performance. Chronos Technology has provided the WiFi
technology to TDC and will also provide after sales
support. Chronos Technology is a value added reseller
of Gemtek Systems and technical partner of TDC solutions.
