HANGZHOU,
CHINA-International CATV Technology Conference (ICTC)-October
31, 2007 - Entropic Communications, Inc., a
leading provider of systems solutions to enable connected
home entertainment, today announced its first strategic
partnership with a Chinese-owned company, BROWAN Communications,
to deliver innovative broadband access solutions to
the Chinese market. This strategic partnership allows
BROWAN to offer its customers, leading MSOs and cable
operators in China, product solutions to economically
deliver triple play services over the existing cable
infrastructure to single-family homes and high-density
multi-dwelling units (MDUs).
BROWAN is integrating Entropic's c.LINK
Access technology in network controllers and customer
premise equipment for service provider deployment
throughout China. BROWAN customers plan to implement
these solutions initially to offer low-cost, high-speed
Internet services, but will be able to easily add
additional communication services in the future which
take advantage of c.LINK's full range of data, voice
and video capabilities.
"BROWAN is a highly innovative
company and a respected brand. They have chosen to
leverage our c.LINK Access technology to enable their
customers to offer cost effective enhanced broadband
communication services to the Chinese market,"
commented John Graham, VP of Marketing at Entropic
Communications. "We are delighted to be working
with BROWAN to build a prosperous long-term partnership."
c.LINK Access
is the "Ideal Technology Solution"
With Entropic's c.LINK Access, service providers have
a cost-effective solution for delivering combined
IP video, voice and data services to consumers with
ease. Since c.LINK Access has been designed to work
over the existing coax infrastructure, operators can
deliver revenue enhancing premium services without
making significant investments in new capital expenditures.
With the flip of a switch, BROWAN customers can deliver
enhanced video and voice service functionality without
the need for labor-intensive hardware installations.
By partnering with Entropic and integrating its c.LINK
technology, BROWAN will be able to offer Chinese service
providers solutions that meet their diverse broadband
requirements with world class equipment and management
software.
"We are very pleased with the
c.LINK Access technology which enables BROWAN to provide
future proofed Broadband products that will provide
new service platforms for our customers," stated
Jeff Qiang, CTO and VP of BROWAN Communications Inc.
(Shanghai). "c.LINK Access developed by Entropic
Communications is the ideal technology solution for
us in China because it can be implemented with existing
coaxial wires and does not require capital intensive
improvements such as infrastructure and equipment
upgrades."
BROWAN's network controllers and customer
premise equipment with Entropic's c.LINK systems solution
will be deployed in several Chinese cities and provinces
including Tianjin City,Suzhou City/Jiangsu Province,
Dongguan City/Guangdong Province, Rui'an City/Zhejiang
Province, and Huangshan City/Anhui Province. This
is the first time Entropic has aligned with a Chinese-owned
