How to reset in P520,P-560+,P720,P780,G4200,E-820? |
| Link to reset.pdf |
What is the antenna type of the P520,P560+,P720,P780?
|
| Link to p5x~p7xantenna.pdf |
Which is the primary antenna on
the P-560 ? |
| The left hand antenna when
viewed from the front of the device is the primary
antenna (i.e. used for transmit and receive),
see this graphic
|
What is the receiver sensitivity
of the P-320 and P-360 ? |
The receiver sensitivities
of the P-320 and P-360 are as follows:
- 11Mbps: -84dBm.
- 5.5Mbps: -87dBm.
- 1Mbps: -90dBm.
|
What transmit power levels can
be set on the P-320 and P-360 ? |
| The P-320 and P-360 can be
configured to transmit at the following power
levels: 0dBm, 6dBm, 10dBm, 14dBm (default), 16dBm
and 20dBm. |
What is the delay spread of the
P-320 and P-360 ? |
| The targeted Delay Spread
of the P-320 and P-360 at 11Mbps is 125ns, and
at 5.5Mbps it is 250ns. |
What is the coverage pattern from the P-320
and P-360 ? |
| The P-320 and P-360 are equipped
with internal vertically polarized 6dBi directional
antenna for transmit and receive, the horizontal
beam width is 85° with no downtilt. The P-320
and P-360 are also equipped with a horizontally
polarized 4dBi receive-only secondary antenna
with a 65° horizontal beamwidth. Plots of
the antenna patterns can be found here p320-p360antennaspattern.pdf. |
What is the coverage pattern from
the P-380A ? |
The P-380A is equipped with
an internal 10dBi directional antenna, the horizontal
beam width is 47°, the vertical beamwidth
is 48° with no downtilt. A Plot of the antenna
patterns can be found here p380a-antennapattern.pdf |
What are the best channels to
use if I need more than 3 APs in the same area
? |
The recommended minimum channel
separation between adjacent Wi-Fi APs is 5 (e.g.
channels 1, 6, 11). Under some circumstances it
is possible to reduce this channel separation
to 4, or even 3 channels to allow more APs to
be installed within the coverage area. When reducing
to these smaller channel separations, it is essential
to provide a greater physical separation between
the APs (i.e. >5m (17ft)).
- In N. America: only 11 channels are
available so in dense AP environments channels
1, 4, 7, and 10/11 may be used.
- In Europe: 13 channels are available
so channels 1, 5, 9 and 13 may be used
or under some circumstances channels 1, 4,
7, 10 and 13.
- Other Regulatory Regimes: The number
of channels available and the spacing used
will depend on local regulations.
|
Can I have 2 APs in the same coverage
area set to the same channel ? |
| If 2 APs within range of each
other are set to the same channel, they will "contend"
with one another for the 11Mbps of bandwidth avaialble
on that channel, i.e. all users associate to those
2 APs will be sharing the 11Mbps of available
bandwidth. |
Can I attach an external antenna
to the P-320 or P-360 ? ...and if so what connectors
are required ? |
| It
is possible to attach an external antenna to both
the P-320 and P-360 using the A-103 "Pigtail"
cable. The A-103 cable has an MMCX connector for
the primary antenna jack inside the AP casing
and a standard N-type (male) connector for the
external antenna. |
Which is the primary antenna jack
inside the P-320 and P-360 AP casings ? |
| The primary antenna inside
the P-320 and P-360 casing is the vertically polarized
antenna with the large backing plate located towards
the bottom of the unit next to the radio PCB. |
What is the antenna connector on the P-380N
Router/AP ? |
| The P-380N Router/AP comes
equiped with a Reverse Polarity N-type connector.
There is the option to use the A-102 short antenna
cable to convert the RP N-type connector to a
standard N-type (male) connector for the external
antenna. |
The "Loopback" and "Monitoring"
screens in the P-380/P-320/P-360 don't seem
to work, what is the problem ? |
| A Java Plug-in is required
in the Web Browser for those screens to be displayed,
e.g. http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/downloads/index.html. |

Can I use an external power supply on the T-316
ethernet client instead of the supplied USB
cable ? ...if so what are the specifications
for the supply ? |
| It is possible to use an external
power supply for the T-316 ethernet client instead
of the USB cable supplied. The power supply should
deliver a stabilised 5V DC at 1.5A, the centre-pin
on the connector is +ive. The Gemtek Systems'
X-103 power supply can be used to power the T-316
ethernet client. |
What is the power consumption of the P-320 and
P-360 APs, the P-380 Router/AP and the T-316
ethernet client ? |
| Please see the power
consumption spreadsheet.xls |
Does the E-810 PoE switch support 802.1q VLAN
tags ? |
| Yes, the E-810 supports 802.1q
VLAN tags and passes tagged ethernet frames through
transparently. |

How do I get rid of the certificate warning
message when my users try to access the Internet
through a Gemtek Systems access controller ? |
There are 2 ways to prevent
users encountering the certificate warning pop-up:
- Purchase a certificate from a Public Certificate
Authority (e.g. Verisign) for each access
controller on the network, and upload the
certificates to those devices.
- Move the user login page to a back-end Web
server with a valid certificate, and use the
"extended UAM" method for user login.

Do you have any configuration guidelines for
common RADIUS servers ? |
| Configuration guidelines for
the Microsoft RADIUS server are available here
radius_gx000_cn.pdf. |
Is there a RADIUS dictionary file available
for me to import onto my server ? |
| A RADIUS dictionary file is
available here dictionary.wispr-g6000. |
I having problems with using the WISPr specified
VSAs, do these work with Gemtek Systems' products
? |
| The WISPr VSAs must be specified
in the RADIUS server using "WISPr-" as a prefix,
i.e. instead of just "Bandwidth-Max-Up" or "Bandwidth-Max-Down"
use "WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up" and "WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down". |
Are Gemtek Systems' products compatible with
the iPass GIS interface specification ? |
| Yes, all Gemtek Systems' access
controller products are GIS compliant. |
How do I configue a Gemtek Systems' access controller
for a simple Hotspot service ? |
| To initiate a service with
internal user login pages please see the configuration
guides in the "Implementation Guidelines" section
of the KnowledgeBase
page (password required). |
Is it possible to configure a server other than
a simple web server in the P-360 Walled Garden
list ? |
Yes, this is possible. Servers
is the Walled Garden list may be specified by
service://<host>:<port>/
(if the [:<port>] is ommitted, the deafault
port will be used)., e.g.
- ftp://<host>:<port>/
- https://<host>[:<port>]/
